Foreign Affairs Council adopts further restrictive measures against Iran and North Korea

On 12th December, the Foreign Affairs Council adopted restrictive measures against Iran for the ongoing situation on human rights and for the help that Iran has provided to Russia in its war against Ukraine.
In total, 20 individuals and the state-owned broadcasting company Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) have been included on the list for human rights abuses against protestors and, on the other hand, 4 individuals (Iranian Nationals Yousef Aboutalebi; Brigadier Generals Ali Reza Balali; Hamid Vahedi and Abdollah Mehrabi) alongside Design and Manufacturing of Aircraft Engines (DAMA), IRGC Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization, Oje Parvaz Mado Nafar Company (Mado) and Paravar Pars Company were added as well to the list of sanctions due to their involvement in the development and delivery of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to Russian army forces.
These measures consist of: several assets freeze, travel bans to the EU, and a prohibition on making funds available to the listed entities and persons.
Furthermore, the EU Foreign Ministers have imposed additional restrictive measures on 8 persons and 4 entities, among them, are the DPRK Ministry of Rocket Industry, two oil tankers and delivery vessels, under the North Korean sanctions regime responsible for the involvement in the development of ballistic missiles related activities carried out by North Korea in violation of UN Security Council resolutions. These sanctions comprise an asset freeze, a travel ban to the EU, and a prohibition to make funds or economic resources available to those listed.
