07 October 2021

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) launched the 2021 call for proposals worth a total of 95 million in the framework of the LIFE Programme, the EU’s funding instrument for environment and climate action. The call for proposals covers projects on 18 different topics, with 4 main sub-programmes:

  • Nature and Biodiversity, aiming to contribute to the protection and restoration of Europe’s nature and halting and reversing biodiversity loss, and supporting the implementation of the EU Birds and Habitats directives
  • Circular economy and quality of life, aimed at facilitating the transition toward a sustainable, circular, toxic-free, energy-efficient, and climate-resilient economy and at protecting, restoring and improving the quality of the environment, either through direct interventions or by supporting the integration of those objectives in other policies
  • Climate Change mitigation and adaptation, aimed at contributing to the shift towards a sustainable, energy-efficient, renewable energy-based, climate-neutral and resilient economy, thereby contributing to sustainable development
  • Clean energy transition, aims to build on the success of the Intelligent Energy Europe and horizon 2020 Energy efficiency programs to support the delivery of EU policies in the field of sustainable energy

The LIFE 2021 Clean Energy Transition call is open to any public and private organization registered in the EU, or in a country associated with the LIFE program. Project applications can be sent until 12 January 2022 via the Commission’s Funding & Tender portal.
