The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) which is an independent body of the European Union set up in 2008 organises the EIT Digital Challenge - an initiative to support the European deep tech ecosystem. European fast-growing startups - so called scaleups - in digital sector are invited to apply in EIT Digital Challenge 2020 in one of the following five thematic areas:

Digital tech is relating to digital future with core technologies providing secure, robust, responsive and intelligent communications and computation.Digital cities aims to serve the cities with digital technologies addression urban mobility, citizen inclusiveness and engagement, and city safety.Digital industry concerns he digital transformation of the industry, from production to logistics to retail.Digital wellbeing is relating to safeguarding  health for the youth, the working professional and the elderly by analysing sensor data and digital finance concerns the disruption of digital transactions and institutions with technologies that allow transparency, efficiency, security and trust.

The EIT Digital Accelerator consists of a pan-European team of business developers and fundraising experts operating from 17 cities across Europe, along with a hub in Silicon Valley. Since 2012, the EIT Digital Accelerator has supported over 300 fast-growing startups to sign up customers and raise capital.

Growth stage technology companies with intranational ambition which can prove by showing annual revenue of over €300,000 or at least €2m in total funding, and they are in their first ten years of existence, can apply for this competition. The best 5 companies will receive a full year of tailored international growth support by the EIT Digital Accelerator worth €50,000 to scale up their business. On top of that, the first place winner will receive a cash prize of €100,000. The application deadline is 7 June 2020.
